SD-WAN Changing the future of Networking

No longer are the days in which businesses have to set-up and manage complex networks. SD-WAN is changing the game by simplifying routing, security, leverage of providers, and so much more. If you are a company looking to set up a network and you haven’t researched SD-WAN, you will already be behind the technology curve. Do not sleep on SD-WAN!

Enjoying Working From Home

Are you used to going into the office everyday and now have to deal with the working from? You probably thought that you would have extra time to get spring cleaning done but if you are like me, it seems that you are working more than you did in the office. There are a few things you can do so that when this pandemic is over, you feel like you accomplished something besides sitting in front of your computer all day.

#1: Don’t think twice about it and just throw out all your old magazines and empty boxes. My hoarding tendencies make it hard for me to set aside time to purge clothes, mail, and beauty products. Since working at home, I have been ordering off of amazon like crazy, I have accumulated lots of boxes over time. Throw them away! It was a lot harder to toss the magazines because you read the covers and get an emotional connection to the topics. I tell myself, when you are board you will want to read this. The reality is that you will never get that board. If you didn’t read the magazine when you first got it, chances are is that it will remain a coffee table display indefinitely. Let them go! I assure you, more magazines will end up in your mailbox.

#2: Clean out your kitchen cabinets and refrigerator. This is also a very easy task because no one should want to eat expired food. Throw away any items that have expired and make room for fresh items. Sometimes people think they can keep canned goods for a extremely long time but everything has a expiration date. Get rid of those old cans. Similar to canned good, people like to keep frozen items a long time as well. If that frozen steak has been in your freezer for 9-12 months, its time to move on from it. Unless you are living off the grid and only can make it to the grocery store once a year, you should be keeping fresh frozen items on hand.

#3. Wash all your pillows, stuffed animals, and dirty tennis shoes. Sounds like a task but all these things can be completed using your washer and dryer. I wash my tennis shoes on a cold gentle cycle. I put them in the dryer with cool air or sometimes just let them air dry on the patio. They always come out looking brand spanking new. These are things that don’t always get a chance to be cleaned thoroughly.

Dyson Hair Tools

Can you believe Dyson is now creating hair tools? They have a couple of blow dryers and a flat iron. My initial thought is how much I love my dyson vacuum and the cutting edge technology design, the hair tools must be the best of the best coming from this company. I have watched over 20 youtube video reviews on each hair tool and I must admit, there is no way I would pay hundreds of dollars for a blow dryer or a flat iron. I saw a lot of cool technology advances with their tools such as wireless, wet to dry curling, and easy nozzle replacements. What I did not see was better hair results than a normal blow dryer and flat iron. I have no desire to purchase a hair tool that is going to cost $500 and not deliver. Ladies, stick to your CHI’s, EAP’s, and hot tools.

2020 XBOX

I cannot wait for the new 2020 Xbox to drop this year. If I could pre-order right now I would. I don’t even know what the new features are but my excitement is mostly because a new halo is supposed to drop around the same time. I have been a halo fan since master chief was a baby! If it weren’t for a new halo coming out I might not have considered getting the new Xbox. I hope I don’t have to buy all new controllers for this thing uggghhh…

Tech Covid-19 Bride Ideas

A lot of brides are going through a range of emotions right now due to the corona virus issues affecting the world. Shipment delays, closed venues, and social distancing have completely turned wedding plans upside down. Are you a bride that has been impacted by these things? Have you tried to improvise and think of new ways to still have the wedding of your dreams and nothing you think off feels worthy of your big day? Don’t worry, uritgirl is here for you. This is the time to tap into technology and leverage it to your benefit. Here are just a few things to think about and try.

#1: Schedule an amazing photo shoot with your groom. 5 years from now you will barley remember the details of your wedding. The money you are saving from cancelling or downgrading your wedding, add it to a photography package. Have a videographer follow you to the courthouse. There are no orders or social distancing rules that won’t allow you to have a photo shoot or a videographer follow you around the city. Don’t let Corona stop you from creating awesome wedding content that can share with friends and family. You will have this content forever.

#2. If you are adamant about getting married on you planned date despite Covid-19 and you invested in a great photography package, set up a Zoom or Microsoft teams meeting with all your guest and present your footage to them when the content is final. If you pick the right vendor, your guest will feel like they experienced it with you by the time you are done with the presentation.

#3. If you desire to have your guest at your wedding virtually, it is possible. Invest in a projector and a nice large back ground screen. Send out a zoom meeting invite for all your guest to tune it during that time. Find a great videography crew that can capture good sound and video quality. A good crew should have clothing mics, lighting, multiple cameras to switch views in the moment. Your guest should be displayed on the projector screen. This will make you feel like they are there with you. The biggest tip for this to be successful is making sure your guest are on mute to ensure no disruptions during the ceremony.

This is just a few ideas to help you think about surviving Covid if you planned to get married during this time.

What is a Raspberry Pi?

Sounds yummy right? Unfortunately for you, this is not something you can eat. For us geeks it is so much more fulfilling than a sweet treat. A raspberry pi is a computer that is about the size of a business card and can do everything a desktop computer can. Yes ladies, you can carry this in your clutch purse if you desire 🙂 It can be plugged into any type of monitor/tv screen and have all the full capabilities of a home office setup in minutes. You can get one for $35. Why are people still buying large desktops?
